А впрочем, главное же, чтобы вам нравилось, не так ли? Важно не забывать жить разумом, а не модой. Today"s discussion is about fashion.

There is a proverb: “Good clothes open all doors”. It means that when people don’t know you they judge you by appearance and especially clothes. When you see the person wearing a perfect expensive suit your brain creates the image of successful businessmen in front of you. Instead, the person wearing old jeans and simple T-shirt won’t be allowed to enter the restaurant or many other establishments. It’s considered normal, but should it be this way?

For the vast majority of people, the word “fashion” means a lot and makes their way of living. Nowadays it’s still associated with clothes and accessories but, moreover, it influences our choice of food, technologies and even medicine. A lot of people waste money in order to seem to be fashionable and follow modern tendencies. Furthermore, they don’t choose the things they like just to correspond with social demands. Running this rat race people forget about their personal identity, their tastes and wishes.

One more important thing that we lose trying to be in fashion is our comfort. Most clothes perfectly suit fashion shows and ideal model bodies but not the real life. Choosing extremely fashionable things you risk looking funny and dull. Anyway, the power of fashion industry is so strong that it’s difficult to struggle with the desire to be similar to people from magazine covers or billboards.

I also think the thing is that the fashion changes so rapidly that there is no sense in following it all the time. I don’t see any necessity in buying expensive fashionable dresses which will be out of fashion in several months and you will look "wrong" wearing it.

I’m absolutely convinced that there is no better thing than feeling comfortable and confident in things you wear. I prefer to invest in good quality products that are fashionable all the time rather than wasting money trying to impress everyone around me.

Существует такая пословица: «Добротная одежда открывает все двери». Это значит, что когда люди не знают вас, они судят о вас по внешности и особенно по одежде. Когда вы видите человека, одетого в идеальный дорогой костюм, перед вами создается образ успешного бизнесмена. И наоборот, человеку, одетому в старые джинсы и простую футболку, вряд ли позволят войти в ресторан или многие другие заведения. Это считается нормой, но должно ли это так быть?

Для большинства людей слово мода означает довольно много и создает их образ жизни. На сегодняшний день оно все еще ассоциируется с одеждой и аксессуарами, но, более того, мода влияет на наш выбор еды, техники и даже лекарств. Многие люди впустую тратят деньги с целью казаться модными и следовать современным тенденциям. Кроме того, они не выбирают вещи, которые им нравятся, только для того, чтобы соответствовать требованиям общества. Из-за этих крысиных бегов люди забывают об индивидуальности, их вкусах и желаниях.

Еще одна вещь, которую мы теряем, пытаясь быть модным — это наш комфорт. Много одежды идеально подходит для модных показов и идеальных фигур моделей, но не для реальной жизни. Выбирая чрезмерно модные вещи, вы рискуете выглядеть смешно и глупо. Тем не менее, сила модной индустрии настолько велика, что очень сложно противостоять желанию быть похожим на людей с обложек журналов или билбордов.

Я также думаю, что проблема заключается в быстроменяющейся моде, и что нет никакого смысла в том, чтобы следовать ей все время. Я не вижу никакой необходимости в покупке дорогих модных платьев, которые через несколько месяцев выйдут из моды, и вы будете выглядеть "неправильно", нося его.

Я абсолютно убеждена, что нет ничего лучше, чем чувствовать себя комфортно и уверенно в одежде, которую носишь. Я предпочитаю инвестировать в вещи хорошего качества, которые никогда не выйдут из моды, чем впустую тратить деньги, пытаясь впечатлить всех вокруг меня.

Раньше в городе было ДВЕ станции юных техников, и в каждой была секция картинга. Картинг был ещё и во Дворце пионеров. Сейчас в городе нет ни одной стации, и кружок во Дворце пионеров тоже уничтожили. Закрыли - не поворачивается сказать, просто уничтожили!
Мы боролись, писали письма, везде ответ у них один. Лет пять тому назад я ездил к губернатору Самарской области на прием. Он не принял, а приняла меня заместитель.
Вот после этого нам дали помещение, где мы и базировались. У нас очень много детей хотят заниматься картингом, но очень плохая материальная часть не позволяет набирать детей.
Да и большая часть картингов требует ремонта. Вот в таком положении находится наш кружок.
Мы обращались и к мэру города Сызрань за помощью. Второй год ждем помощи. Решили обратиться через интернет к вам за помощью.

Fashion is a contradictory phenomenon that attracts millions of people today. Nowadays, both men and women think about fashion and want to be up-to-date. It is interesting to see how influential fashion can be. It has entered many spheres of our lives without notice.

We now tend to judge people by their clothes, haircuts, make-up, etc. And many people really think that your outward can tell them everything about your personality and social status. However, it is a mistaken opinion that makes people think narrowly.

Nevertheless, fashion is a part of our life and we have to deal with it anyway. You always have choice, so it is not obligatory to follow the crowd if you don’t want to. However, you should understand that fashion may be useful because it always means development.

Everyone knows we should all develop both mentally and physically. In this way, fashion doesn’t include only clothes trends. It may also talk about modern books, places, museums and hobbies. And even if you are not supposed to choose every thing that is called fashionable, you may find at least something that can interest you and become a part of your life.

All in all, fashion is not always bad or does not give you unuseful pieces of advice. It can influence you in a good way and open you the world from a new side that can be attractive.

Today we think about fashion a lot because every morning we have to pick our clothes for the day and also when we see meet new people, at first we judge them by the way they look and what they wear because it`s the the only thing we know about them.

Our clothes reflect our social status. For example if you are a business lady you should be dressed appropriately, it is preferable to wear well branded clothes.

Some people spend a lot of time on buying clothes because it helps them to forget about different life problems. It means shopping for clothes can be a good therapy in case of troubles, but you shouldn`t become a shopaholic and buy everything you see, the sense of style of clothes is extremely important.

Some people have the idea that it isn`t necessary to spend huge amounts of money on designer clothes. I believe that one should have at least several designer clothes in the wardrobe for special occasions, like a friend`s wedding, for example.

Nowadays fashion is an inseparable part of our life and it doesn`t matter whether you`re wearing expensive clothes or bought them on sale if you look good and dressed with taste.

Наша одежда отражает наш социальный статус. Например, если вы бизнес леди, то и одеваться нужно соответствующим образом, предпочтительнее носить брендовую одежду.

Некоторые люди проводят много времени покупая одежду потому что это позволяет им забыть о жизненных проблемах. Это значит, что покупка одежды может быть хорошей терапией в случае каких-то неприятностей, но нельзя становиться шопоголиком и покупать все, что вы видите, очень важно чувство стиля.

Некоторые люди считают, что не стоит тратить огромные суммы денег не дизайнерскую одежду. Я считаю, что нужно иметь хотя бы несколько дизайнерских вещей в гардеробе для особых случаев, таких как свадьба друга, например.

В наши дни мода неотделимая часть нашей жизни и неважно надеты ли на вас дорогие вещи или вы купили их на распродаже если вы хорошо выглядите и одеты со вкусом.

Fashion is a thing that we have to keep up with, whether you like it or not. Anyway it’s important to look attractive. But it doesn’t mean that you should be a fashion-conscious . It may turn to a waste of money . If a person doesn’t have good taste he is not able to put things together . Trendy people want to stand out in a crowd , but sometimes they don’t look stylish.
First of all, think clothes should suit you . If you have good taste you can buy a big range of styles and always look fashionable. But clothes should suit the occasion , and put you in the right mood for the day. But there are people who are not able bothered about fashion, they just want to stand out in a crowd by wearing something unusual, old-fashioned or trendy. Actually, I’m not such a person and I guess you should choose things according to your personality and character, and you’ll look well-dressed even if you wear something casual .

I like wearing different kinds of clothes, but certainly clothes should suit the occasion. When I plan what I’m going to wear I usually think what kind of meeting I have. At school we weren’t allowed to wear sport or bright clothes, we had to wear clothes of formal style. Usually I wore a jacket, a blouse and trousers or a skirt. But I didn’t like being dressed that way, as many other students. Really I prefer smart clothes to formal. Besides I enjoy wearing sport clothes, because I feel comfortable in it. Also on my list of likes there are jeans. One of my favourite colours is white, so I like white sweaters, tops and skirts. I usually wear high heeled shoes even if it’s not always comfortable or thick-soled boots. When I go out I always dress up, because I feel better that way. But when I have an official meeting I try to wear formal clothes.

Today"s world is often called the computer world. We cannot imagine our life without computers. The first computers were developed during the Second World War. They were used to break the codes, used to send secret information.

Our world is really a small world. Modern transport facilities make it possible to reach any part of our planet within a few hours. People have to communicate and solve common problems in all the spheres of political life, economy and culture. Communication is an interaction of cultures. The knowledge of each other"s culture and traditions is very often important for successful business and political talks. We, Russians, very often surprise our foreign partners by our behavior and manners.

Unemployment is a very urgent problem today. Years ago when a man left school he learnt some job and did this job all his life. He could be sure that his job would be needed to his dying day. Nowadays he couldn"t be sure. Your work may look like a very good job at present, but it may not be needed in 10 years.

Drugs

Drug addiction is a big problem today. Even 5 years ago this problem did not exist in small towns. We read about drug addicts in the USA and other countries of the West. This problem existed in big cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg. Today different drugs are sold in our city and what is worse they are bought and taken by people, mostly young people. Drugs are ruinous for health and they destroy the personality of those who take them.

We can"t call today"s world a safe world. Many dangers come from nature, I mean floods, earthquakes and so on. But people are also dangerous for each other. Unfortunately, there are some people who don"t stop at anything to achieve their aims. They even think "the more victims the better". Our country was one of the first to have terrorist attacks. I mean the attacks in Moscow when two apartment houses were destroyed. There were acts of terrorism in all parts of the world at the end of the 20th century: in Japan, in England and in France.

I"d like to tell you about my native town. Izhevsk is very large industrial town locted in the European part of Russia between the Volga River and the Ural mountains. It has a population of about 700.000. Izhevsk was founded in l760 as a settlement. The industrial development f the history began with the construction of an iron works. In 1918 Izhevsk became a town and since 1921 it has been the capital of Udmurtia.

Science is finding out about things around us. How do you find out about things? One way is to ask questions about them. But suppose no one knows the answers. Then you have to think of ways to find the answers yourself. This usually means doing something to the «thing» to see what happens. Doing something to see what happens is called experimenting. Scientists ask questions about things around us.
